It's written on the pavements

I probably shouldn't say this as an avid Fashion lover but when it is the time of year that the world is taken over by Fashion week I get a little frustrated by how people in the industry are presented/present themselves.  Fashion on all levels is one of the most vain industries to work in, but fashion week to me seems to highlight all of the negatives about our true love.  Every year the same things happen; - Someone high up will dramatically quit their job i.e. someone usually from net-a-porter or Vogue - A petition to ban skinny models will start - Kate Moss and Sienna Miller will start hanging out again - A celebrity will mess up their collection and ruin themselves - One weird and wonderful trend will arise. Don't get me wrong I love Fashion Week, I love the new clothes, the new models launching into the limelight, the mistakes and the collection winners. But my favourite part of Fashion Week is the street style.  Yes everyone has seen the ...

Oh my god, can you make me a dress?

So people are starting Uni in the next few weeks and there will be a whole new breed to Fashion students hitting the BA Hons world.  Coming from  a Fashion PROMOTION graduates point of view I think it is necessary for someone who has walked in the carefully chosen footsteps of a Fashion student to prepare others (and those who will be talking to others about) wh at it is actually like for us to study fashion. Now I live with one of my best friends and she is a Fashion Design Graduate. She can whip up a dress or a skirt within a few hours whilst I sit there looking like she just found a unicorn at the end of a rainbow. I can't even manage to sew on a button...this leads me to my point. As a 'Fashion' student we know, within our own little Fashion bubble what the different areas of Fashion mean. There are however, people who just DO NOT GET IT. These are the people that you are guaranteed to have these 5 annoying/ soul destroying comments off when studying ...

Our new Bible

Alexa Chung is creating a book. I say creating as she has said herself that she is extremely visual and finds the ins and outs of writing a book a little difficult. However O-M-G how amazing is it that we will be able to read a book by our very own style queen Miss Chung? Throughout her stunning style history, every woman in fashion has (At some point) fallen to the floor in awe at her geek chic style.  Even though this news was released last year it has only just come to light that Alexa didn't really have any idea what she wanted the book to focus on. Now she has decided that she wants the book to focus on her photographs, drawings and writing, not in an autobiography but in a way that allows us girls who worship her to get an idea of what goes on in her stylish head.  Of course it sounds like it will take time for Chung to gather her ideas together but the book is due to be released later this year *Cheeeers* And yes I am going to post some of my best Alexa looks just...

Blake Lively for Gucci

Image
Blake Lively is now the new face of Gucci. After numerous luxury brands snapping her up, Lively seems to be taking over the designer world. I love her! I think she is not only brilliant at her job but stunning on top of it all. Take a look at the new shoot with Blake. With director Nicholas Winding Refn blake looks as stunning as ever. Stunning. xoxo

Addict

So I love fashion as you may have guessed. In the world of fashion and fashion media there is one thing that I love about brands marketing their products. TV adverts. Not just any TV ads but perfume adverts in particular. There is something about the extreme and quite often weird ideas that come from the designers of these adverts. From the raunchy Jean Paul Gautier ads to the playful and pretty Hugo Boss that's sees Sienna Miller playing around simply sat in a chair, all of them equally effective. Now however one has caught my eye, show casing to me one of the best models around. Although she has been working within famous brands and has been featured in nearly all of the best fashion magazines, sixteen year old  Daphne Groeneceld has amazed me with how cheeky, fun and flirty she is in the new Dior Addict advert. I first spotted her recently on the front of Self Service magazine with bright red lips, contrasting what we see in her new advert. Discovered in Amsterdam over a y...

The best of the Met

Image
The Met ball brings together the most stylish and glamorous names in fashion. Last night did not fail to impress as some of the most beautiful dresses were worn down the red carpet. Beyonce looked breath taking in this haute couture Givenchy bejeweled gown, rocking her post baby body. Diane Kruger looked stunning donned in this bold and bright Prada gown. One of my personal favourites. The always sexy Scarlett Johanson was show stopping in this amazing gown by Dolce and Gabanna. Marchesa never fail to make the most astonishingly stunning dresses for these fashion focused occasions. Leighton Meester looked golden in this beautiful creation. Her make up is also flawless! Another one of my personal favourites. The queen of fashion herself. Anna Wintour caused a positively brilliant reaction when she graced the red carpet wearing her lobster encrusted Prada gown draped with her white fur shawl.  Camilla Belle looked stunning in her metallic Calvin Klein des...

Can we still be friends?

Image
Ok so Alexandra Shulman has the best job in the world yes? Yes of course she does...being the editor of British Vogue is every fashion lovers dream. Her days are spent learning about and loving fashion, picking out what she feels is the best in the fashion world to help us worshiping fashionistas keep up to date. She is a genius. A multi tasker and a multi talent. After being lucky enough to witness the huge success she created organising Vogue Festival and being able to see how truly admired by her peers she is I was desperate to read her new book. "Can we still be friends" Unlike many other names in the fashion world who write books, this amazing read is nothing to do with fashion. It is not Alexandra Shulman telling a story of her life or aiding people into the fashion industry. No. It is a truly heart felt beautiful read about the ups and downs in a girls friendships. It is a story that every woman of any age will read and adore. Every girl who has had the drama ...
